Unfortunately we forget to retest this feature for XXE v10 running on
macOS Monterey. We'll do that for XXE v10.1 and try --again-- to find
a workaround for this annoying issue.
1) I can confirm the same issue on MacOS 12.1 Monterey.
2) I discovered - sort of - a workaround: Drag and Drop. Instead of
using "Open With" (or double clicking the file), in the Finder window,
simply drag the file above a wind of XXE, and drop it there. Voila. It
will open in a new tab in a window of XXE.
(And, if instead of a file, you drag a folder, the content of that
folder will open in XXE’s file browser. From there you can open files by
doubleclicking them.)
