When you edit a file with xxe, xxe automatically adds spaces to indent the top

Can you turn off this function?

Not really. But you can try different indentation options to see if this helps. For example:

* "Indent" unchecked. Weird output, but "diff friendly".

OR

* "Indent" checked, but "Indentation"=0, "Max. line length"=10000000 and "Add open lines"=unchecked.

When using the different editors, you cannot get a correct diff due to the
added spaces.

We, of course, are well-aware of this limitation. It has even been flagged as a "Show Stopper" in "Features", https://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/features.html :

"Preserves as much as possible the physical contents of an XML file (whitespace, character entities, CDATA sections, etc)" = "NO (RED HIGHLIGHT)"

In a nutshell, this means that we do not recommend purchasing XXE when the physical representation of stored XML is of paramount importance.
