Great, deleted the property file did the trick. The problematic file had the
Tools|Revision|Do
Not Keep Any Information About Revisions" SELECTED,but greyed out (for other
files it was NOT greyed out). After deleting the property file that file had
that selection set to something elsebut it was NOT grey out....after selecting
the correct option the file apparently got cleaned out

Sorry buy I cannot reproduce this issue. May be it's caused by something
in your working environment.

--> Anyway, please proceed as follows just in case this fixes your problem:

Step #1) Start XMLmind XML Editor. Select "Options|Preferences". In
"Preferences" dialog box, select the "Tools|Revisions" section.

Please make sure that checkbox "Do not automatically keep information
about revisions" is checked.

See
http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/toolsOptions.html#revisionsOptions

Step #2) Open all the documents containing <?xxe-sn ... ?> and *for*
*each* *document*, please make sure that menu entry "Tools|Revisions Do
Not Keep Any Information About Revisions" is selected.Do
Not Keep Any Information About Revisions" is selected.

(Note that "Store All Revisions in the Document" implies "Enable the
Comparison of Revisions", so this menu entry too must NOT be selected to
avoid having <?xxe-sn ... ?>.)

See http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/help/revisionsMenu.html

--> If this still does not work, may be it's because XMLmind XML Editor
cannot save and/or modify your user preferences file.

This user preferences are stored in
<XXE_user_preferences_dir>/preferences.properties

<XXE_user_preferences_dir>  is:

    - $HOME/.xxe8/ on Linux.

    - $HOME/Library/Application Support/XMLmind/XMLEditor8/ on the Mac.

    - %APPDATA%\XMLmind\XMLEditor8\ on Windows. Example:
C:\Users\john\AppData\Roaming\XMLmind\XMLEditor8\.

Exit from XMLmind XML Editor and try to delete
<XXE_user_preferences_dir>/preferences.properties by hand.
