Hi Hussein,

I'm happy to help you.

I'll respond in more detail later.

But for now I can give you a little information.

a) my machine is running the latest version of El Capitan. The problem
manifested itself when I "upgraded" the OS to the lastest version.
b) I don't have a "retina" display - it's a 27 inch thunderbolt display
from 2012-13 with a resolution of 2500 - 1400 +-
c) I've downloaded and installed various versions of java - none have
had an effect. Currently I'm running version 8 (Build 1.80-66-b17)
d) I've also notice some display anomolies in the Safari Browser. The
are similer - parts of the display are not updated on scrolling. But
in this instance they are very, very small - perhaps on line of pixels.
e) I haven't noticed it on other programs - though I haven't looked for
the issue either.

Just because I (like everyone else who doesn't have to do the actual
work) I'm going to offer a guess. The upgrade to the
lastest version of El Capitan was meant to enhance performance - often a
deal breaker. I'm guessing that something in the
display API has changed. It's very common for the official API to state
rules that are not always enforced - until some later
version. So programs which inadvertently depend on the "looser" rules
break when there's an upgrade.

below you suggest I should try the "Instrumented" version of xxe ONLY IF
I'm running apple java 1.6.0_65 - which I an not running.
Since I'm not running this version of java - do you want me to not do this?

Thank you very much for your offer.

You have Oracle Java 1.8.0_66 installed on your Mac. We cannot ask you to downgrade to Apple Java 1.6.0_65 just to run our tests.

However,

* if you have display anomalies with XXE v6.5 even with Oracle Java 1.8.0_66,

* if you have half an hour to spare,

* if you are curious to see if one of the settings (scrollMode=simple, blit or backingstore) of the "Instrumented" version of XXE can solve these display anomalies,

then why not give this "Instrumented" version of XXE a try?
