using the new Paste from Word feature, we noticed a significant quality

Is it possible to improve this?
Yes, we have noticed that too. It's MS-Word which provides the images.
We render them without any modification at the exact dimension
specified by MS-Word. Therefore we really don't see what we could do
on our side.
Hmm, that's strange because other tools (namely paint and inkscape) do
get the proper resolution when pasting the image...
"Paste from Word" means "Paste the *HTML* copied by MS-Word to the
clipboard". To my knowledge, Paint and Inkscape do not import HTML
referencing temporary low-res images. Paint and inkscape import the
image copied by MS-Word to the clipboard. Therefore I'm not sure that it
makes sense to compare XXE's "Paste from Word" to Paint/Inkscape's Paste.
Please note that XXE also allows to paste an image copied by word. See
for example: "Paste As|figure" in the DocBook menu
(http://www.xmlmind.com/xmleditor/_distrib/doc/docbook/docbook_menu.html).
May be you could compare the result of this menu item to
Paint/Inkscape's Paste.
