*Synergy* (mouse/keyboard sharing: http://synergy-foss.org/) has been
installed for our technical writers since they usually need to have two
PCS (one Windows, one LInux) and transfert selection from one to another.

Unfortunately, once Synergy is started, XXE (we use professional edition
5.4.1 or 5.6.0) does not start normally and gives an error message
(coming from xxe.jar in gui/app/Professional/..), which runs:
   * Failed to retrieve atom name

This seems to be a low-level error message related to the X-Window system (running on the Linux machine). A Java application such as XMLmind XML Editor has no direct access to the X-Window system and hence, is unlikely to be the cause of such error.

If we click on OK, nothing works really as expected in XXE (panels are
dimmed, some buttons do not react, etc etc, and we have a *lot of* java
exceptions in the console).
We realize that you might not be in the position to look after this
issue right now, but if you could if would be really appreciated since
Synergy is a very efficient mouse sharing tool in our context.

As explained above, XMLmind XML Editor is a Java application and as such, cannot conflict with Synergy.

However, the Java runtime can indeed conflict with Synergy. See for example:

* http://jalbum.net/forum/thread.jspa?threadID=35822

(Jalbum is another Java application.)

* https://bugs.launchpad.net/ubuntu/+source/synergy/+bug/207057

* http://synergy-foss.org/pm/issues/27

I'm sorry but I really don't see what we, XMLmind, could do to help. I mean, even if we manage to reproduce the problem here at XMLmind, there is no way for us to fix it.
