Hi! OK, I probably did some twists that most users do not do. As such, it will not happen often.
<adviceFromAuntLeif> However, this allows me to make a simple point: Many software vendors are not careful enough with the names the give to the files and folders that their products have. With suboptimal naming conventions, users are tempted to change the name of some or all of the software. And in this case, this lead to this trouble. Because I changed the name to xmlmind--eval-5_5_0. And with good reason: The web site is called xmlmind.com. And the editor product appears to be called XMLmind. But when I download and install the evaluation product, I get a folder called "xxe-eval-5_5_0". The "-eval-5_5_0" bit is useless — I would recommend removing it. But it is at least clear enough - I get what it means! But what does "xxe" stand for??? Not XMLmind, at least?! And the product itself, the editor, is called XMLeditor.app, when I would expect XMLmind.app - or perhaps XMLmindEditor.app. So, for instance, if I press Command+Tabulator in order to look at all the running applications, the editor appears as XMLeditor and not as XMLmind. So it is even tempting change the name of the very app folder … with the (possible) bad consequences of doing that. Is there even a need for the folder? Perhaps all could have been kept inside the (to be named) XMLmind.app folder? </adviceFromAuntLeif> Cheers, Leif Hussein Shafie, Wed, 06 Feb 2013 19:25:13 +0100: > In order to reproduce the problem: > > 1) I've installed and started XXE v5.4.1, then uninstalled it, then > installed and started XXE v5.5.0 and indeed everything worked fine. > > 2) I've uninstalled XXE v5.5.0 and then re-installed XXE v5.5.0, but > at a *different* *location*.
