Nonsense. MacTeX installs TeX Live in /usr/local/texlive/2016, which is 
incidentally the default location suggested by TeXLive. It would be stupid for 
it to erase /opt/local/bin, since it is not going to use that
location, and since the user might to keep their old TeX around.

The MacTeX install does exactly the correct thing. It puts all of TeX Live in 
this one location

        /usr/local/texlive/2016
