If you are trying to develop a web-based LaTeX processor, it will run as it's own user, with restricted access. This can complicate the development process, as either you develop via the web interface --- which can be rather clumsy and slow, or as a super-user --- in which case you cannot be sure that testing with the extra privileges really is representative of what will happen when you run via the web. Will the same inputs be found?
