This seems to be a specific behavior of xdvipdfmx. When using xdv2pdf as
the output driver, the fonts appear as Type 1 with a PostScript icon.
However, xdv2pdf has some other drawbacks. As Martin said, there should
be no problem with the way xdvipdfmx embeds fonts.
