Mission accomplished and just for the log, I did, on Windows 10,

uninstall previous WSJT-X installation (which had hamlib 4.5 jiggered in)

fresh install of WSJT-X 2.6.1 that you sent yesterday and so includes
the hamlib that you build into that package.

put the wsjtx_log_config.ini in place

invoked WSJT-X, which had been previously configured for my FT-736.

WSJT-X starts, radio beeps three times with the "CAT System" indicator lighting
each time.

WSJT-X puts up the Hamlib error dialog.

I choose to Configure the Radio Interface.

I clicked "Test CAT"

"Rig Failure" dialog appears.

I click <OK> and <CANCEL> the Radio Interface Configure.

Exit WSJT-X.

And send you the .log via private email since it is in excess of 100K bytes.
