Indeed. Management's method of containing costs at my company involves
loading the payroll data into a spreadsheet, doing a descending sort, and
starting at the top and working down. (Excluding management staff, of
course.) Which is why I gladly took a 10% pay *cut* when I negotiated the
deal that lets me work at home in Pittsburgh.

Still, I'm preparing for the inevitable career shift to Wal-Mart greeter. My
sister-in-law just retired as one last year. To paraphrase Animal House,
that makes me a legacy- they have to take me.
