I just realize that I've met both men. In 1996, KFBK sent me to New York City for a training session for the old Basys newsroom computer system (I was system administrator for it). I got a chance to meet and sit in with Gil Gross during his CBS Radio syndicated talk show. (Sit in off the air, of course.) After that night's show, I humbly asked him for a ride back to my Manhattan hotel...and he gently informed me that he (like most people there) didn't have a car, and that everyone uses cabs...two of them then pulled up, and Gil motioned the second driver to me. In that same trip, I got a tour of ABC News Radio's headquarters, and met Doug Limerick there. I also got to watch the late Tim O'Donnell do a newscast. (ABC used a series of six buttons for sound bite firing, the first button fired the top of the hour sounder on the Information Network.) Anyway, as I've written elsewhere...I'm not sure of the wisdom of any long-term extension of the franchise without the man, but if you're going to offer something...those are the two men I'd have picked. --~--~---------~--~----~------------~-------~--~----~ You received this message because you are subscribed to the Google Groups "World News Now Discussion List" group.
