The issue is not about the MSI's MajorUpgrade. This issue is about not able to customize error message in Wix standard bootstrapper application during downgrade case. No doubt, my MSI has MajorUpgrade element with proper downgrade error message. This message is never shown (note that my MSI is called from Wix standard Bootstrapper application) while running bootstrapper application in downgrade scenario.
To simply put, when I run my Wix standard bootstrapper application with lower version (note that bootstrapper version is set to that of MSI version) on top of the similar installed Wix bootstrapper standard application with higher version, the setup fails (as expected, with error text as shown in this post). My concern is how can I change the displayed error message? Can I customize that? What changes in bootstrapper are required to change the error text? Note: 1. My internal MSI (that is called by my standard bootstrapper application) has MajorUpgrade element with proper "DowngradeErrorMessage" sub element. 2. Bootstrapper application has "RelatedBundle" element with Action="Upgrade" Thanks, DP -- View this message in context: http://windows-installer-xml-wix-toolset.687559.n2.nabble.com/How-to-customize-error-messages-in-Wix-standard-bootstrapper-application-tp7597187p7597216.html Sent from the wix-users mailing list archive at Nabble.com. ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ Meet PCI DSS 3.0 Compliance Requirements with EventLog Analyzer Achieve PCI DSS 3.0 Compliant Status with Out-of-the-box PCI DSS Reports Are you Audit-Ready for PCI DSS 3.0 Compliance?
