Some time ago I did an experiment along this line. I think I used 'add-in' or 'update' but not 'patch'. And I added code to my mba. For me the updated bundle was removed when the main bundle was removed. I thought I had all of the details so I could repeat this in the future, but I cannot lay my hands on the info now.
