Noticed a few things: * The official documentation (http://wixtoolset.org/documentation/manual/v3/wixdev/building_wix.html ) requires running msbuild.exe on wix.proj traversal project. * The few solution files (.sln) can be opened successfully by Visual Studio. But they do not build successfully within Visual Studio due to various project reference errors. * Why do we maintain both .proj and .sln? It leads to redundant work and inconsistency (say .sln is broken now). If you download the Zip, Create a Source Code Directory, but only use the supplied solution in the zip to make changes to the WiX Project proper, (the one everyone uses).
