I would choose "none of the above." :) The primary reason to use filtering is when you're choosing files individually, based on what you know about changes made to the product. Otherwise, use no filtering to get the default automatic behavior. I'm not aware of any problems using Melt and automatic filtering. You can check the .wixpdbs that Melt produces to make sure the paths are correct.
