I wasn't intending to actually distribute the mysql database, hence wanting the installer to check it's a supported version. So it's only the client library that would ever be included.
My understanding was using an LGPL library was fine as long as it was dynamically linked, so people could build their own versions. I assume thats possible with an msi in one way or another? All though why anyone would want to for just an installer is beyond me, the installer will only be there as a convenience as 99% of our users don't want to have to manually set up the database and various config files. With the current design their even free to write their own db.dll (the interface details are available) and use a different database for the application altogether lol... _________________________________________________________________ Tell us your greatest, weirdest and funniest Hotmail stories http://clk.atdmt.com/UKM/go/195013117/direct/01/ ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ SOLARIS 10 is the OS for Data Centers - provides features such as DTrace, Predictive Self Healing and Award Winning ZFS.
