I thought I would
find this answer in the archives but did not.
What is the best way
to move an existing application that is deployed in the field via VS.NET 2003
installer project to a WiX based deployment?
Major upgrade is a
given but what has to be authored on the Wix side to get it to upgrade an
install that was built by something totally different (my assumption is that
using the same upgradecode as is in the VS.NET 2003 installer isn't the answer
and that the answer may be somewhat complicated).
Some info about the
VS.NET 2003 installer:
1. It was
built using the VS.NET 2003 setup project (no special other stuff outside what
VS.NET IDE supports).
2. It has
merge modules within the setup project that were also built in
VS.NET.
