Have you asked anyone about this? Do you think it's because of heavier subscription out here? Poorer coverage? More co-channel interference (which happens alot because of the hills and the bay)? I read a review of this recently (in "Smart Money", maybe?) where the reviewer was impressed with the coverage and usually got 40-60 kbps, but I don't remember his location.
