Starting from Winpcap 2.3, packet.sys has been renamed to npf.sys. However
this is completely transparent to applications.

To test if WinPcap is properly installed, try Windump
(http://windump.polito.it, be careful to download the proper one, as there
is a version for WinPcap 3.0 alpha and one for WinPcap 2.3).

Use "windump -D" (D capital letter!) to obtain a list of adapters.
If windump works, it's not a winpcap issue.
