Indeed adding that added  ERModernLook and ERModernDirectToWeb jars and 
changing user.d2mmodel to:

    100 : *true* => look = "ERModernLook" 
[com.webobjects.directtoweb.Assignment]
)

I’m almost there… I’m hoping Ramsey Gurley might see this and shed some light 
on what I am missing. ☹️
I’m also afraid that with no D2W people around, my calls for help will go 
unanswered…...
