The state of WYSIWYG textarea editing is horrible. The big 2, TinyMCE and CKEditor are bloated and have lousy UI/UX. There are a zillion less bloated options but hardly any that are decent.
I used NicEdit which is OK but I don't think the developer is still working on it.
