Thank you for the response.  Prior to performing the steps in my
original posting,  I deleted the previous installation directory and
installed the latest version of web2py.
The only text I've entered are the table definitions in db.py.  I'm a
bit mystified.

I'm using Firefox 3.5.2.  Interestingly - when I try IE8 and Safari I
get the Date picker for the DateOriginated field, but no drop down for
"referencedtext".  On IE and Safari the text box turns pink when
clicked on, but no selection list appears.
