The RFC is fairly hard to validate. If that's what we really want, I  
found this one on the web that looks about right:

^(?!\.)("([^"\r\\]|\\["\r\\])*"|([-a-z0-9!#$%&'*+/=?^_`{|}~]|(?...@[a- 
z0-9][\w\.-]*[a-z0-9]\.[a-z][a-z\.]*[a-z]$

It assumes the case-insensitive flag.
