I used the wrong word. I did not really mean it. easy_install is actually great for most apps because it checks for dependencies.
The problem is that it requires access to the OS shell, while it would make more sense to me to have an installation tool that runs from the Python shell. Perhaps it can be done with easy_install but I do not know how and that is not how people use it. It it were possible to easy_install from python shell I would like it more and we could create a web2py app to easy_install new modules.
