Aunt Bee, the movie was “Boys’ Night Out” from 1962 with Kim Novak, James
Garner, and others.

Meeting Howard for the first time at Mayberry Days in 2001, it was obvious that
he also enjoyed talking about roles other than “Ernest T”. I found a press kit
for “Boys’ Night Out” on eBay and gave it to him on his next visit to Mt. Airy.
He was so pleasantly surprised exclaiming, “Where in the world did you find
this?!” He pointed at the photo of Kim Novak and said, “Let me tell you, she
was really something!”

I’ll always cherish that memory!

I was astounded the other day when flipping thru the channels. I came
across some movie from the 50s I believe it was in which our Ernest T
was a normal guy married to Patti Page! He spoke normally and looked
normal too. Of course I recognized him right away but he was so
different, aka? "normal" that it was eerie! Just shows the talent of the
man! Mayberry, it's everywhere!!!

And Ken, I sympathize as to your recent barber visit. I too am
uncomfortable with people who sport unnaturally-colored hair and
tattoos. I hope you can find a decent, traditional barber somewhere
nearby and enjoy it from now on.
