As far as things that don't make sense on the show, I know I've encountered a
number of them, but it's hard to remember them all now. However, here's one
that does come to mind. In the episode "Mountain Wedding," Andy and Barney
decide they will need to leave at 4:00 in the morning in order to get to the
Darling cabin. Now, it's apparent that the Darlings live in Mayberry County,
or Andy would have no jurisdiction there. So they couldn't have lived *that*
far away from Mayberry. And even if Andy and Barney had to drive over some
pretty rough roads to get to their mountain shack, how could it conceivably
take that long?? By the time they arrive, the sun is pretty high in the sky,
indicating that they had been on the road for as much as six hours! Leaving at
4:00 a.m. makes it sound more like a cross-country trip rather than a
cross-county trip! And then there's the fact that Andy and Barney spent the
night in the Darling cabin instead of going home and returning the next day,
which also makes it seem like the distance was terribly long. The episode
was very funny, but that whole premise just doesn't make any sense, no matter
how you look at it!
