I think I'd pick Gomer. He fit the description he gave about the dog they had when he was a kid--sweetly disposed, but dumb. Gomer wasn't too bright, but he had a pretty sweet disposition. That is, unless Barney was giving him a ticket or making him get down there with them spiders and work. He wasn't the superficial type. He liked Mary Grace because she was nice, real nice, even though she wasn't a looker. And he was a man of honor, ready to marry Thelma Lou just because she gave him a kiss on the jaw.
