In Connecticut, as best I can remember, our first party line was 792J2, changed
later on to 792=Ring -2.  Then later it became JEfferson exchange.  As I
recall, we didn't have a private line, as they were MUCH more expensive - I
think they cost something like $5.00 a month!  Now, how many folks in the
1930's could afford that kind of extravagance?  We never had the Mendelbright
sisters talking about their feet going to sleep on our party line, though.
They must have been "something else".  All I recall was Mrs. M. who ran
Barney's boarding house, but then, her sister lived in Mount Pilot, didn't
she?
