Great topic Ken.  I thought about being a barber too, but I don't like cats so
I wouldn't have gotten much practice.  I think I would like to be Mr. Foley
down at the market.  He was a nice man with a lot of friends, he owned his own
business and still had time to hang around the barber shop every now and then.
He couldn't darn a sock or take a punch though.

Seriously though, when I was growing up (before supermarkets) it seemed like
there was a market every 3 or 4 blocks in just about every neighborhood.  In
ours it was Ferrell's Market.  He had your normal grocery goods but what I
remember most was the meat counter.  James was always back there cutting meat
into steaks or roasts and it was fascinating for a 5 year old to watch.  Mr.
Ferrell was a real nice man.  He would often give my sister and I gum and every
now and then give us one of those fruit popsicles with two sticks that you
break in half to share.  My sister's favorite was grape and mine was banana so
Mr. Ferrell would alternate the flavors.  I hadn't thought of that in a long
time Ken, thanks.
