Hi, I am running standard vpp18.01(without any changes) with Mellanox(ConnectX-4) NIC and trying to ping vpp over IPv6 from some external client machine. I found that client is continuously sending Multicast Neighbor Solicitation messages but those multicast messages are not reaching the vpp. I checked by enabling the vpp trace but didn't find any multicast Neighbor solicitation message from client. However, i also verified that when multicast packets are initiated by vpp, then vpp is able to send multicast packets and able to receive unicast response. So, receiving a multicast packet in vpp seems to be a problem.
Has anyone observed this behavior or is there any existing bug in vpp 18.01 for not receiving multicast ipv6 packets by vpp with Mellanox NICs?
