Okay, I have now read the relevant portions of the book, thanks to the "Send Sample Now" feature of the Kindle. That feels like cheating. Anyway I can report that the assertions about cold fusion are vapid and incorrect, and the author barely gives cold fusion any credibility. It is better than the recent Slate magazine article I guess.
At least we know where we stand when things like this are published. Since 1989 we have made essentially no progress in the court of public opinion. I guess I should note that the Slate article does give an inch. QUOTE: "The American Chemical Society, the world's largest professional organization of scientists, sponsored multiple sessions on cold fusion at their annual meeting last spring. This drew predictable jeers from the few mainstream scientists still bothering to debunk claims for cold fusion, but the number of such sessions has quadrupled since 2007." - Jed
