No recombiner could have handled the situation even if it functioned

It did not function at all. It was wet. The explosion probably occurred when a drop of water fell from the recombiner and revealed the surface.

. . . and at any rate this is not the "cause" of the accident, although
it is true that had not other malfunctions occurred in safety systems, the
accident might have been non-fatal. The underlying cause according to expert
opinion, was recalescence.

Then why was the explosion in the head space? And which expert opinion?

but it is also the same alloy which was being used in the infamous runaway in SLC . . .

What does SLC stand for?

. . . you should interview him instead of relying on what could be a self-serving report from SRI (which will not open anyway). Needless to say there were legal issues and settlements.

The investigation at SRI was conducted by agencies independent of SRI. This report is not the only one. I have not uploaded the others.

What do you mean this will "not open"?

In the case of LENR - this softening could allow almost all stored hydrogen to be immediately expelled . . .

The hydrogen did not expel suddenly. A stochiometric mix built up over time in the headspace, because the recombiner failed. Unfortunately they did not realize pressure was building up.
