Dear Friends,
Some of you may have been aware that during 1st to 12th Jan 2008 Dr.
Michael McKubre of SRI International and Mr. Steven Krivit visited
India and went on a tour giving lectures at the Bhabha Atomic
Research Centre, Bombay, the Indira Gandhi Centre for Atomic Reseach
in Kalpakkam near Chennai and the Indian Institute of Technology,
Madras in Chennai.
There was also a one day Seminar on 3rd Jan 2008 on the topic "Low
Energy Nuclear Reactions: Third Route to Nuclear Energy" at Hyderabad
hosted by a privateresearch company called the "Pentagram Research Foundation".
But the main event was the one day Discussion Meeting held on 9th
January 2008 at the National Insitute of Advanced Studies (NIAS) in
Bangalore where many senior scientists had gathered to take stock of
the status of cold fusion. The meeting concluded on a very positive
note resolving to send a formal recommendation to the office of the
Chief Scientific Advisor to the cabinet in Delhi, namely Dr. R.
Chidambaram that cold fusion research be funded adequately. (I am
awaiting the final & formal note of recommendation!)
Meanwhile the correspondent of Nature-India who attended the NIAS
meeting has filed a very positive news report that may be of interest
to the CMNS community. The report appeared in the 17th Jan issue of
Nature India. I am attaching the URL link of that story below :

I have reason to be satisfied that the stigma of cold fusion has at
last been removed from the Indian scientific scene! We now have to
wait and watch to see what action follows!
