I've lost your situation somwhere. Let me rephrase your situation:

Solaris machine, running database-viewer and Xvnc server.
remote machine, running vncviewer.
Problem: font not found if database-viewer shows up in Xvnc-vncviewer.
No problem: database-viewer shows up in local (Solaris) console display.

Solution:
Check the fontpath setting in the local working display: `xset -q`, read the
fontpath line. note: local is the same machine/processor where
Xvnc/vncserver must run.
Provide the same fontpath to Xvnc: edit the vncserver script, it's fairly
readable at this point.

btw: Can someone please put this somewhere in the faq where other's can find
it? thanks.

Success
