Note (re:recent mailings on file transfer in vnc-list) "DToC has a couple of advantages over VNC. The security issues are integrated into DToC, rather than travelling through other layers and translations that you need to configure separately. The piggybacking on HTTP means that DToC gets through a firewall more easily than VNC does (but that is both good and bad). Furthermore, within DToC you get a file transfer interface, so no separate FTP, Samba, NFS, or similar file transfer server necessarily needs to run on the server machine, as long as DToC is running (as you would need with VNC)" -------------------------------------------------------------- -- Visit our Internet site at http://www.reuters.com Any views expressed in this message are those of the individual sender, except where the sender specifically states them to be the views of Reuters Ltd. --------------------------------------------------------------------- To unsubscribe, mail [EMAIL PROTECTED] with the line: 'unsubscribe vnc-list' in the message BODY See also: http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc/intouch.html ---------------------------------------------------------------------
