I have RH7.2 on two boxes and some Windows machines. I am running VNC on the RH boxes as a user (not as root). I'm using Netscape 4.76 in Linux and IE5.5sp2 in Windows.
VNC works fine with both the client and with a browser connecting to Windows. I can also connect from a Windows and Linux box to a Linux box with the VNC client. My problem is that I cannot connect to a Linux box with a web browser. I get File Not Found the Netscape browser in Linux, and Page cannot be displayed in IE5.5 browser in Windows. Here is how I launched it: ====================================== [buckt@D2004140 buckt]$ vncserver New 'X' desktop is D2004140:1 Starting applications specified in /home/buckt/.vnc/xstartup Log file is /home/buckt/.vnc/D2004140:1.log ======================================= AND HERE IS THE LOG FILE: ======================================= [buckt@D2004140 buckt]$ cat /home/buckt/.vnc/D2004140:1.log 12/02/02 06:32:15 Xvnc version 3.3.3r2 12/02/02 06:32:15 Copyright (C) AT&T Laboratories Cambridge. 12/02/02 06:32:15 All Rights Reserved. 12/02/02 06:32:15 See http://www.uk.research.att.com/vnc for information on VNC 12/02/02 06:32:15 Desktop name 'X' (D2004140:1) 12/02/02 06:32:15 Protocol version supported 3.3 12/02/02 06:32:15 Listening for VNC connections on TCP port 5901 12/02/02 06:32:15 Listening for HTTP connections on TCP port 5801 12/02/02 06:32:15 URL http://D2004140:5801 xrdb: No such file or directory xrdb: can't open file '/home/buckt/.Xresources' 12/02/02 06:33:17 httpd: get '' for 10.60.50.63 12/02/02 06:33:17 httpd: defaulting to 'index.vnc' 12/02/02 06:33:17 httpProcessInput: open: No such file or directory 12/02/02 06:33:21 httpd: get '' for 10.60.50.63 12/02/02 06:33:21 httpd: defaulting to 'index.vnc' 12/02/02 06:33:21 httpProcessInput: open: No such file or directory 12/02/02 07:55:22 httpd: get '' for 10.63.3.134 12/02/02 07:55:22 httpd: defaulting to 'index.vnc' 12/02/02 07:55:22 httpProcessInput: open: No such file or directory 12/02/02 07:56:05 httpd: get '' for 10.63.3.134 12/02/02 07:56:05 httpd: defaulting to 'index.vnc' 12/02/02 07:56:05 httpProcessInput: open: No such file or directory [buckt@D2004140 buckt]$ ================================================== The IP address of this machine is 10.60.51.66, and the IP address of the requesting machine is 10.60.50.63.
