Anyway, back to this problem. I don't know enough about it, but my best guess would be edit Xaccess and uncomment the line '* #any host can get a login window' a) RedHat 6.2, 7.1, 7.2 -' /etc/X11/xdm/Xaccess' (was number 3, second one, now number 4) Ensure the line begins with the * This is what I believe will give you the login window.
