machine was running VNC via inetd perfectly on the local network. i took the machine to a remote site. set it for dhcp and rebooted (dhcp server assigns a static ip based on mac address). now the machine will not come up with a gui based login under runlevel 5 but i can vnc to it on the local network from a win2k box. if i try and connect to it from a different subnet(VPN) i get the please wait - initial screen loading.....and it gets no further than that. the only hardware that has changed is the monitor. i have a feeling it's a setting in XDMCP but i can't figure it out.
