Hello, I'm not sure if my problem is the same as the one described below. I'm using vncviewer to access a vncserver process on a solaris box. I could be running vncviewer from either ME or aonother solaris box. For now, the speed bottleneck only makes it practical to run vncviewer from solaris, so I'll desribe the problem for that case.
When I log in, twm gets started up and initial windows pop up. That's good. Then I finish my session, shut down all applications, and exit twm. From the local console, I kill vncviewer. Later, I want to reconnect. I get the grey VNC viewer window, but no messages, no twm, and no windows of course. The VNC installation was the latest as of about 1.5 months ago (couldn't see command line options to query for version, but log file says Xvnc 3.3.3r2).. If it is the same problem as below (despite the lack of messages), and the patch is not in my version, can anyone point to where the patch is? Thanks. Here is an excerpt from > my logfile: There is a patch for this particular bug, which involves a tiny but fatal buffer overflow. It can be retrieved from the list archives, I expect. I'm not sure whether the downloadable source has been updated yet, though.
