Not sure what you mean by "allowed remote access."  Other X11 apps come up
just fine.  It seems to be how some apps behave when getting displayed to
hosts that are the local machine.

For example, start VNC on solaris1:1, log into solaris2 and set DISPLAY to
solaris1:1 and things work just fine.  But when logged into solaris1 and
running an app to solaris1:1 gets the problem.

Set DISPLAY to the IP address for solaris1, and things work fine as well.
