I'm having problem with two applications that aren't playing nicely with my
Solaris VNC server.

xemacs and gvim do not come up in their GUI windows, complaining about an
inability to open the display. xauth, display variables are all set
properly, and some X11 apps work just fine, such has xterm.

The error from gvim 5.7:

        cannot open displaychild process failed to start gui

The error from xemacs 21.1.12:

        Initialization error: X server not responding
        : "MYHOST:1.0"

(MYHOST == the real hostname).

Any ideas?
