Wayne,

Thanks. I do mean something else...

And I thought I was good at explaining :)

Here goes another try:

WinVNC makes no attempt (in VNCHooks.cpp) to read text
strings which have been put on the screen and send these
as text strings to the vncviewer. Instead, it treats these
strings as bitmaps. SOMEONE PLEASE CONFIRM THIS, OK? Please.

It would be useful to me to have VNCHooks.cpp catch Windows
text rendering operations (any text, anywhere on the Windows
screen) and send these strings to the vncviewer as an RFB
of a new type, called 'string' or 'text', so that I can
modify vncviewer to automate a set of specific operations
(like mouse movements and clicks) based upon a string appearing
INSIDE a specific application. Then I can do strcmp's in
vncviewer on the Sun, and automate some operations....

Someone, please, tell me you at least understand what I am asking...

tia,

Mark
