yeah, but that doesn't answer the question. there are
hundreds of ftp servers out there. presumably some are
*better* than others.
again, the encryption issue can be somewhat handled by pgp.
it's the other issue which is of real concern to me. what i
don't know is is it an endemic problem for any program that
calls itself an ftp server (which if so, is there a suitably
approachable substitute?) or can one find a reasonable ftp
solution.
i realize this is an open-ended, simple question, but i ask
it that way because everybody and his brother recommends
this ftp server and that ftp server without any comment on
the security issues. and if someone else posts a 'ftp
servers aren't safe' type reply, the reason they're not
safe is rarely supplied.
