Alpha 3 is a large collection of small bugfixes to alpha 2, as well as a
bit of a tidy-up on the naming and user-interface sides. From the read-me
file:

- Interface with vncPatches given major overhaul - is now cleaner and
should be partially compatible between versions from now on.
- Support for holding down keys (especially modifiers) improved. Eg.
Option-(close window) now closes all windows, Option-(switch application)
now hides the original application.
- Multiple monitor support improved, especially in terms of speed and mouse
visibility.
- Mouse pointer shape now visible correctly on PCI machines.
- Pause during quit shortened to 0.5 seconds per physical screen. The pause
is necessary to allow network connections to shut down, but didn't need to
be 5 seconds...
- Name change of distributed binary, to reinforce the difference between my
releases and "official" TridiaVNC releases.
- New "about" box, showing the exact version number and giving info about
contributors.

Users of vncPatches68k will need to wait for Adrian to release an updated
version which matches the new vncPatches interface. However, this new
interface relaxes the dependence of the Server and vncPatches on exact
version-matching, enabling the release of each independantly of the other.
Also, I may be able to release a 68k-compatible version of the 'normal'
vncPatches in the near future, and this allows me to release this without
having to distribute a new version of the Server just for this.

The rationale for renaming the release and binary is that TridiaVNC on all
other platforms refers to the special, tweaked, certified version which
Tridia charges for supporting, whereas my "TridiaVNC" has merely been
alpha-quality and decidedly unfinished. Hence the rename to "ChromiVNC" to
avoid confusion. The "TridiaVNC" targets have been left in the project
file so that later reconversion is easy. The new 'About Box' also
understands the difference between TridiaVNC and ChromiVNC. Henceforth,
"ChromiVNC" will refer to releases made by me (for whatever reason) apart
from the old alpha-1 and alpha-2, and "TridiaVNC" will refer only to
alpha-1, alpha-2, and future "official" releases certified by Tridia.

The two most significant things that still don't work are:
- 68k support in the vncPatches
- Drag Manager support (the connection will halt if you try to drag
something like a Finder icon or a text clipping)

Other things, like performance tuning, "advanced" encodings, error
reporting, logging, better GUI, faceless mode, and various other things
that people are doubtless clamouring for, are also in the pipeline at a
lower priority.

Alpha-3 is available from the usual place - see my signature.
