is it ok for me to download the newest (1.3.3 i think it said) and compile
and use it?
Unfortunately my company will not purchase anything right now, and I need
some remote control to do remote support across a 128K vpn pipe to win98se
machines in the remote offices (800x600x16bpp, wallpaper, font smoothing,
and all that fancy junk).

Yes, at the moment the code is in the prerelease. I don't know when this
will appear as the next official release, this is something Brian Blevins
will need to answer.
I believe he may have fixed a couple of bugs that existed for some systems
previously as well, so this should be a useful version.
I have actually tried the prerelease, and find it works very well. Some
very useful additions in there!
