Using newest stable release of vnc viewer on windows 2003 and starting the vncserver on redhat9 by using the following:

vncserver -depth 16 -geometry 800x600
also have tried "vncserver" all on it's own.

Here is a copy of my xstartup:

#!/bin/sh

[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
xsetroot -solid grey
exec gnome-session &

Have also tried:
#!/bin/sh

[ -r $HOME/.Xresources ] && xrdb $HOME/.Xresources
exec gnome-session &

I get the grey screen with just the cursor. I've seen a lot of people complaining about this and tried some of the suggestions but I can't get it going. If anyone could help a linux newbie out I'd really appreciate it!
