I am running the server on Solaris 2.5.1 (soon to be Solaris 8) and the Viewer on a Win 2000 machine. When I bring up the Viewer, right now I get an xterm application, which is what the xstartup file is specifying. However, what I really want to bring up is an in-house application. Changing the xstartup file did not work, it brought up a blank X session.
My server on the Solaris system is designated lyra:1. Within the xstart i put in the lines: set DISPLAY lyra:1.0 I have made it work using Exceed, but there were a few problems there getting it to run. I ended up having to set the Exceed application to use "pseudocolor". I also had to set DISPLAY to the ip address:0.0 of my Win 2000 machine. This worked quite nicely. I think there is something similar to the "pseudocolor" issue going on, but haven't tracked it down yet. I tried starting an xterm and then launching my application from there, just to see what would happen. The startup window for the application BRIEFLY came up and then went away. Any suggestions, that are at least anatomically possible? Dave Scruggs Senior Software Engineer EDO Reconnaissance and Surveillance Systems, Morgan Hill Ca.
