I run WinVNC 3.3.6 as a service on my WinXP Home machine. I use Fast User
Switching and the welcome screen, but until now I have had no problems.
However, I recently mapped drives S, T, and U to network drives on another
computer. That computer is off for most of the day, so I have a constant
"nework cable is unplugged" message in my system tray.
The connection still works from most computers, but there's one computer
(it's a Compaq Evo D510 w/ P4 (ugh) and WinXP Pro. I don't have any
priveleges on that machine) that doesn't seem to be able to view my home
computer when S, T, and U are disconnected.
The Windows viewer simply says that the service is not found, but the Java
viewer (using IE, which is all I can use) gives me a Path "s:" Not Found
error.
Any thoughts?

I didn't see anyone give you the correct answer as far as the Java viewer.
This is a bug in Internet Explorer. When you use a URL with a port number
(for example "vncserver:5900") you have to type the "http://"; in manually.
Try typing in "http://vncserver:5900"; and it will work fine (assuming of
course you got the other trouble resolved). Did Michael L.'s advise about
the firewall help with that?
